Boot In Safe Mode Without Pressing F8 Key

Recently one of my friend asked me how can he reboot his computer in safe mode without pressing the F8 key at the time of booting which is normally required fro booting windows in safe mode.

Some times there could be a case when you may not want to press the F8 key or even if you press the F8 key your key your system does not boot in Safe Mode as the F8 key on your keyboard may malfunction and also pressing F8 key is also important to boot into safe mode while booting.

You must be wondering what is safe mode you may heard it, may not know the actual meaning, here it is.

What is Safe Mode?

Safe Mode is a special way to load windows in the troubleshooting mode so that you can repair the problem that might be caused after a software installation and any other problem related to windows. In Safe Mode windows does not run autoexec.bat and config.sys files including most of the device drivers are not loaded so that you can uninstall the device and its drivers which is causing the issue.

Today, I will tell you how to boot your computer automatically in safe mode with out pressing safe mode at the time of booting your computer.

In order to boot your computer into safe mode automatically in safe mode their are two methods, one is by using msconfig in windows and other one uses a free utility called BootSafe

Boot In Safe Mode Via msconfig ( For Vista )

1. Start your Computer in normal mode first and open Start Menu >> Run, and type msconfig and press Enter

2. Click the Boot tab in windows and select the check box Safe boot

Make sure that minimal is selected and click Apply and OK.The next time you restart your computer it will automatically boot in safe mode.

When you done with your work in safe mode, open msconfig in safe mode and unclick the check box Safe boot and click Apply and OK

2. Click the BOOT.INI tab and select the check box /SAFEBOOT

Make sure that minimal is selected and click Apply and OK.The next time you restart your computer it will automatically boot in safe mode.

When you done with your work in safe mode, open msconfig in safe mode and unclick the check box Safe boot and click Apply and OK

Boot In Safe Mode Via BootSafe

BootSafe is a free tool which lets you boot into safe mode without playing with msconfig. By using bootsafe takes the hassle out of rebooting in safe mode or normal mode so there is more fighting with F8 key or msconfig.

1. Boot your computer in normal mode, run BootSafe – select the safe mode type and press Reboot

2. After you are done with your work in safe mode and run BootSafe again – select Normal Restart and press Reboot

How to safely remove your usb drive when Safely Remove Hardware icon disappear from taskbar in Win Xp.

If you have seen a problem in windows when you plug your usb-data drive and after transfer all your data to or from your usb-thumb drive or any other portable drive.

When you want to safely remove that hardware you found no ‘safely remove hardware icon’ in the taskbar as it got disappeared from the taskbar due to some reason that you don’t know.

So what to do in such a situation to safely remove the hardware device safely out of windows system ?

Open Start >>Run and type the following command(or just copy it).

RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

Press OK.

this command will open of the “Safely Remove Hardware” dialog: from which you can select your portable drive and remove it safely and properly.

How to solve the problem of safely remove icon getting disappeared out of the taskbar ?

  1. Right Click the taskbar in windows xp.
  2. go to properties and check the option which says “Hide inactive icons” and go to customize.
  3. find safely remove hardware and in the behavior category select hide when inactive or always show.

This problem usually occurs in windows xp when a usb drive is usually plugged into a usb port but as some of the network permissions change overnight due to which the same drive that shown earlier as e: drive in windows explorer is not showing.

So now due to the network permission under E:\ and there is a conflict with the USb stick.

In short your removable drive or a normal usb drive is detected by the system but due to not being displayed in the windows explorer.

Lets see how you can figure out a simple solution to this problem.

1. Start >> Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >>Computer Management and now click on disk management.

2. Select the portable usb drive and right click on it and go to “change drive letter” then assign a new drive letter to it such as x,y,z to avoid any conflicts.

3. That’s it done! as soon as you assign a new drive letter i will show up in the windows explorer.

How to enable transparent windows in win xp, vista and win 2000 without aero glass.

In case of windows vista to run cool aero glass effects it normally require a powerful graphic card or some good amount of video memory shared on the motherboard and in case of windows xp it is not even possible without some modified theme softwares like window blinds.

So, In order to enable transparency effects (aero effects) in win xp you will need a small freeware called glass2k ,this software is suported on all the windows system windows 2000 onwards.

So only thing you need to do to enable the transparent effects in your win xp is to download and install this software and make sure to check the ‘Auto-Load Glass2k‘ at the time of configuration.

Once it is installed and running the icon is shown in the system-tray (near the clock), you can press the following key comibations:

  • Control + Shift + 9 : Least transparency
  • Control + Shift + 8 : A little more transparency

  • Control + Shift + 1 : Maximum transparency

Have you ever dreamed of creating a fake virus yourself to play a prank by installing the virus on your friend computer and a making a fool of him. If Yes then this post is of great interest to you.

So what would you like to do with a virus to make your friend believe that a virus has infected his/her computer.

Hmm….let me guess ?

1. Suddenly Opening and closing of cd drive.

2. Power off the monitor.

3. Log out the user out of windows xp.

4. Turn off the computer.

5. and much more….well actually any of the above events combination can make any windows user think that his/her system is infected.

Requirements For Virus To Run: Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP So you cannot run this utility on Windows 9x machines.

So How To Make and Execute the virus:

1. Firstly you don’t have to make any virus ,you just need to download a nifty utility called nircmd.exe from here (Provided By Nirsoft.net).

2. Now double click the downloaded nircmd.exe and click the button which says “Copy To Windows Directory“.

3. You need to create a batch file , so open notepad and enter these commands line by line or simply just copy the text below in notepad and save it as fun.bat any where on the targeted computer.

cd %windir%
nircmd.exe cdrom open d:
nircmd.exe cdrom close d:
nircmd.exe monitor off
nircmd.exe exitwin logoff
nircmd.exe exitwin poweroff

4. Now drag to place the fun.bat in the start>>all programs>>startup and next time the person(your friend) who will reboot the computer will be the victim.

First of all get over to: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390

Click on the Install button and install the add on into Firefox, restart Firefox and then find the video you want to download. When you are on the page with the video playing click the icon in the status bar at the bottom right of the Firefox window and a window will appear. On the window click the Download button and wait for the download to complete. You can then watch the video in your FLV player (if you don't have one, then the plug in recommends FLV Player

You may need to change the file extension of the downloaded file to .flv, to do this right click on the file icon and click Rename, then add ".flv" (without the quotation marks) to the end of the file name.

There are tips provided on the plug in website about how you can convert it to other file formats.
